Privacy Policy

Shortlist takes your privacy seriously, and for good reason. People send us their full employment history, and many are job hunting while still employed. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.
The short version. We collect only what is needed to write your resume and get paid. We never sell your data. We never share that you are job hunting with anyone, including your current employer. We never publish your details or documents without your explicit written permission.
What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | To reply to your enquiry and deliver your documents |
| Form responses: target role, timeline, package interest, your message | To recommend the right package and prepare for your consultation |
| Your current resume and career history | To write your new documents. Shared by email, not through this website |
| Intake interview notes | To capture the results and detail your resume needs |
| Payment confirmation | To confirm your order and issue receipts |
We never see your card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles card data directly under its own privacy policy. Shortlist receives only confirmation of payment and the name and email you provide at checkout.
Who your information is shared with
Your information is not sold, rented, or traded. It is shared only with the service providers needed to run the business:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Netlify — website hosting and contact form submissions
- Cloudflare — domain and email routing
- Google — email delivery and storage
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if legally required to do so.
We will never contact your current or former employers, verify your employment with third parties, or disclose to anyone that you are looking for work.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become clients: deleted within 12 months.
- Client documents and interview notes: kept for 24 months, so returning clients can get a refresh without starting over. Deleted sooner on request.
- Payment and invoice records: retained as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Before-and-after examples
Anonymised examples of client work are only published with explicit written permission for that specific example. Declining costs you nothing and does not affect your price or service. Permission can be withdrawn at any time and the example will be removed. Any published example has identifying details removed: names, employers, locations, and dates.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- See what information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete your information, subject to records we must keep for tax purposes
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
Email hello@shortlistresumes.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We apply the protections described here to everyone regardless of location.
Cookies and tracking
This website uses no advertising cookies, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. Nothing follows you around the internet after you visit. The only browser storage used is a single local flag remembering whether you dismissed the notice banner, which never leaves your device.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads, as with most websites.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Email is protected with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication. Documents are stored in access-controlled accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but your information is treated as confidential and handled accordingly.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated. Material changes affecting existing clients will be communicated by email.
