Terms of Service
Last updated 3 August 2026
These terms apply when you purchase resume writing or related services from Shortlist ("Shortlist", "we", "us"). By booking a consultation or paying for a package, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, ask before you pay.
1. What Shortlist provides
Shortlist provides professional writing services: resume writing and rewriting, and depending on the package purchased, LinkedIn profile rewrites, cover letters, executive bios, and related career documents. Deliverables and turnaround times for each package are listed on our pricing page and confirmed before payment.
Shortlist provides writing services only. We are not a recruitment agency, employment agency, or career counselling service, and we do not submit applications on your behalf.
2. What we do not promise
We cannot and do not guarantee employment, interviews, or any specific hiring outcome. A resume influences whether you are contacted. It does not control hiring decisions, which depend on your experience, the role, the employer, the labour market, and factors outside anyone's control.
Be cautious of any service that guarantees you a job. What Shortlist guarantees is the quality of the work itself, as described in section 5.
3. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate, truthful information about your work history, education, and accomplishments.
- Attend the scheduled intake interview, or reschedule with reasonable notice.
- Review drafts and provide feedback within a reasonable time.
Shortlist will not knowingly write false or misleading claims into any document. If you ask us to include qualifications, employment, or credentials you do not have, we will decline and may end the engagement. The finished document is yours, and you are responsible for the accuracy of everything in it when you send it to an employer.
4. Payment
Fees are quoted before work begins and charged as a single one-time payment after your free consultation. Payment is processed by Stripe; Shortlist does not store your card details. Prices are in US dollars. Founding client rates are limited in number and apply only while offered.
5. Revisions and refunds
Every package includes revisions until you are satisfied with the work. There is no fixed cap on rounds, provided requests relate to the original scope and role focus agreed at intake.
If, after revisions, the work is still not something you would use, tell us and we will refund your payment in full. Requests should be made within 14 days of delivery of your first draft. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically take 5 to 10 business days to appear.
Substantially new requirements, such as targeting a different industry or seniority level than agreed at intake, may be treated as new work and quoted separately.
6. Scheduling and cancellations
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule an intake interview. If you do not attend and do not make contact within 30 days, Shortlist may treat the engagement as cancelled; section 5 still applies.
7. Ownership and confidentiality
On full payment, you own the finished documents outright and may use, edit, and distribute them however you wish. Shortlist retains no claim over them.
Your information is confidential. We do not sell, share, or publish your personal details or documents. Anonymised before-and-after examples are only ever published with your explicit written permission, and you may decline without affecting your price or service. See our Privacy Policy.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shortlist's total liability arising from these services is limited to the amount you paid. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost earnings or missed opportunities.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in effect when you paid governs your engagement. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
